The order of the Missionaries of Charity is based on Calcutta, India. According to the fourth vow of the order, their objective is to give wholehearted free service to the poorest of the poor. The first sisters settled in Hungary on June 16, 1989 in an empty parish church in Érd-Parkváros. The order currently has 10 locations in Hungary, where they operate homeless shelters and social housing in adjacent areas. They make regular visits to families, hold religious classes, and organize prayer groups and camps for the homeless.
